No Need Yet for Transfers

I bet a few of our many members were rendered almost speechless last night.

The inference that any incoming transfers have been put on hold until Andre Villas-Boas has carried out a full assessment of the squad he has inherited will, no doubt, have brought a gasp from many who have advocated a clear-out whilst also disheartening all those agents out there who hawk the name of Chelsea about to help increase a players` transfer fee.

Now whether Andre is playing a smart game here knowing who he really wants to bring in and who he really wants to ship out is a subject that could be debated. But the words uttered at his press conference would seem to indicate that he`s bought into the mantra spoken by Ron Gourlay who, prior to the appointment of Andre, inferred that there would only be two or three arrivals if they were to improve the team.

Here`s what Andre had to say about the matter,

"I`m more than happy with the squad and don`t agree there have to be big changes or we`re short of quality. These players have won a lot but still hunger for success."

"When a manager comes, radical changes are expected. At the moment, bearing in mind this club`s success in the last six or seven years, we have to judge things carefully and make wise decisions."

"The guys have to feel important. They`re top-quality players, and I want to see them back so I can start taking decisions. But minor changes have to be done and we can have some input in certain areas."

We do, however, remain intrigued by the word minor!

How the word minor is actually defined could be the catalyst for some changes that many here may feel are major.

Once again the suspense is killing us all!
