.Net Serialization Concept and Limitation in Implementation ...

Serialization is the Process of converting the data into the form so that it can be transported and stored. It can be stated as the procedure of storing the state of the object to the storage medium. We can store it to the disk, Memory etc.

.net framework provides two types of Serialization

Binary Serialization: In Binary serialization the the public and private fields of the object and the name of the class, including the assembly containing the class are converted into the stream of bytes, which is then stored into data stream

XML Serialization: In XML Serialization the public fields and properties of an object, or the parameters and return values of methods, are converted into the XML format which Confirms the special XML schema XML Schema definition language XSD document

XML Serialization Serializes only public fields.

Serialization is Useful for Portability but it has its own limitations:

1.Serialized class example 4.Don’t mark class as serializable if class data members contain sensitive information. In this case, it is advisable to mark the class as serializable, but to mark the individual data members that contain sensitive information as NonSerialized. Another alternative is to implement the ISerializable interface and serialize only the required fields.
